Gala and Auction Event
Through both the inaugural Art Creates Cures gala and the Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Day Sale, Art Creates Cures (ACC) raised an astounding $640,000 USD for pancreatic cancer research at Johns Hopkins University. With over 170 attendees, the ACC Charity Gala took place at the Four Seasons, Hong Kong on March 28, 2018 and featured performances by Corinna Chamberlain and even Kevin Ching, Sotheby’s Chief Executive Officer, Asia. Among the items on offer for the silent and live auctions during the evening included tickets to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Gala in California, an exclusive vacation experience in Myanmar and a private yacht excursion in Phuket, Thailand. Additionally, ACC collaborated with Sotheby’s to include works by such artists as Xu Bing, Zhang Wei, George Baselitz, Ding Yi, Qiu Zhijie, Yang Fudong, and Yue Minjun as part of the Sotheby’s April 1, 2018 Contemporary Art Day Sale with the partial proceeds going towards pancreatic cancer research at Johns Hopkins.
